The 2020s: Two Recessions, Higher Taxes And Japan-Like Flat Markets By the mid-2020s, The Fed's balance sheet will reach $10 trillion. In the 2020s, we'll also see a new government at some point that raises taxes enough to actually send a still-weak economy into another recession. Quantitative easing I think will be almost a reflexive move during the next recession.
